Well I know it has been way too long. I'm not one for excuses, but allow me to kindly explain...
I'm sure I can speak for my bandmates when I say, it would be wonderful if making music was all we had to do to keep food on the table and the kids in daycare... In the real world though, I am an Operations Controller, Brian is in the Education industry and Jim is in Sales. In December, I accepted an internal promotion moving me from the Accounting team to the Operations team, where I now manage a team and have been tasked with getting our costs in order. In short: I've been very busy. So while I have made time for the music, I have failed in keeping our blog and website up to date with the latest and greatest.
For instance, Bliss was honoured to be a part of a fundraiser in May for a very worthwhile cause, supporting the Red Cross and the efforts in Ft. McMurray, Alberta. Eight bands were asked to appear, and played at the Boston Manor to help raise funds. We raised $3,200, which was later matched by other initiatives. It was a great opportunity to meet other local musicians, and to see each other perform, which doesn't happen to often since we all gig many Friday and Saturday nights.
We've also been asked to return to the George Hamilton for a monthly time slot, which is fantastic news for our Hamilton fans. I was also excited to learn that Halestorm is returning to Toronto this October... yes I know, I know... But they're so awesome! There has been a lot of new music on the agenda for both the 3 and 4-piece Bliss ensembles, and two weddings coming up towards the end of the year. We've been blessed to share our gifts with you so far this year, and I know the second half of 2016 is only going to be better!
I'll leave you with this: Brian sent me a random text message last Sunday, asking me for three word song titles. I sent him over four or five. There's definitely something in there. Songwriting is a whole new ballgame for me... and needs a post all its own! Until then my friends... Happy Canada Day, Happy 4th of July... and have a great week!
